J. Edward “Eddie” Ysasaga, M.D.

Diseases & Surgery of the Retina


Dr. J. Edward "Dr. Eddie" Ysasaga is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgery of the retina. He is passionate about helping patients preserve and restore their vision through the latest advances in vitreoretinal care. Since returning to Amarillo in 2002 to establish his private retina practice, Dr. Eddie has been dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to patients throughout the Texas Panhandle and surrounding region.

A Texas native, Dr. Eddie earned his bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls before receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his internship at UTHSC and then pursued his ophthalmology residency at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, consistently ranked among the nation's top eye hospitals. He went on to complete a Retina and Vitreous Fellowship at Bascom Palmer and served as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor, helping train the next generation of ophthalmologists.

Outside of the office, Dr. Eddie enjoys spending time with his family and remains committed to serving the Amarillo community he is proud to call home.
